Muse III is an original abstract painting shaped by interlocking lines, gestural movement, and layered blocks of warm color. Peach, ochre, rust, cream, and slate gray form a rhythmic composition with a feminine figure suggested beneath the surface.
 
The Muse series began as an exercise in line, a deliberate departure from the circular forms that often appear in Maria Jewett's work. As layers of mixed media and oil paint developed, abstract feminine forms began to emerge. The series reflects the courage to follow an unfamiliar visual language and allow the work itself to become the muse.

Original mixed media and oil painting on paper. Artwork measures 9 x 12 inches and will arrive archivally matted in white and presented in a natural oak frame measuring approximately 16 x 20 inches. Ready to hang.
