Muse I is an original abstract painting that explores feminine form through angular movement, layered line, and an earthy palette of terracotta, ochre, coral, cream, and slate gray. Intersecting shapes create a composition that feels both grounded and in motion.
 
The Muse series began as an exercise in line, a deliberate departure from the circular forms that often appear in Maria Jewett's work. As layers of mixed media and oil paint developed, abstract feminine forms began to emerge. The series reflects the courage to follow an unfamiliar visual language and allow the work itself to become the muse.
